It makes me shudder to think what it would be like if Jesus were an impersonal God. To serve a God Who didn’t want a relationship with us would make every day unimaginably lonely and difficult.
And worse, how empty it would feel to pray to a god who graciously died for our sins, but remains dead to this day.
Thankfully, every Easter Sunday, my heart sings because not only is Jesus alive, but He wants us to know Him. Yet, how often we take that for granted.
What if we allow this holy season to motivate us to not only grow in our knowledge of God but to also grow in our relationship with Him? As we meditate on this week’s verse, let’s also ask God to help us grasp the resurrection power available to those of us who have trusted Jesus as our Savior.
“That I may know him and the power of his resurrection” (Philippians 3:10a ESV).
For the next seven days, consider doing whatever it takes to know “the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly” and to experience “the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers]” (AMPC).
Imagine if we were to do that as much as possible for an entire week!
How would knowing God, (really, really knowing God – just as you would a very dear friend), help you pray more honestly and more regularly? And how would experiencing a transformed spiritual and moral life affect your choices, especially those you would love to change?
We don’t have to continue living in a way that brings us (and those around us) sorrow and disappointment. Today can be different. This day can be the first day of a new life. If you have never known Jesus as your savior, consider taking that step right now. He died and rose from the dead for you.
God is alive and actively involved in our lives! Let His resurrection power transform you. As you spend the next seven days getting to know Him better, be assured that Jesus wants you to have a personal relationship with Him. As unbelievable as it may seem, it is indeed true.
