Exchange the Lies You Believe for God’s Truth
How would your life be different if you understood that God loved you, despite your imperfections and feelings of unworthiness?
If you truly understood – better yet, actually experienced God’s love – your view of yourself would change. His mercy would replace your crippling shame, making it easier to recover from destructive choices.
Many doubt God’s love, especially when they’re disappointed with how “life” is treating them. Some have endured so many setbacks that they wonder whether God even exists. They assume that their concerns aren’t important to Him. That they’re not worth His time.
I’ve been there. After years of asking God to deliver me from eating disorders, I couldn’t understand why He didn’t come through sooner – before it destroyed my marriage and separated me from my children. After years of defeat, I gave in to the lie that God was disappointed in my choices … and therefore disappointed in me.
But I was wrong.
What if you’re wrong, too? Don’t embrace the discouraging thoughts echoing in your heart. Replace them with truth.
Satan is a liar. What if, despite the lies the devil tells you that you’re not worth loving, that God doesn’t exist, or some other nonsense, you discover that God is the personification of love? And to prove it, he loved the world so much “that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 ESV).
God is real. And, I’m thrilled to remind you, God loves you. Unreservedly.
We have a choice: To believe the devil – the father of lies – who hates us. Or to believe God, the author of Truth, Who has already proven His love for us.
God made us. He died and rose from the dead for us. His love never ceases – no matter what we’ve done. Even if we reject Him, He doesn’t reject us.
How many more years will you remain miserable, trying to do everything in your own strength instead of placing your faith in Christ?
I hope you’ll come “to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:19 ESV). That you’ll be so convinced of His love that you’ll believe, beyond what your mind tells you, how special you are to God.
The more time you spend talking with Him and reading the Bible (His Word), the more you’ll experience His love.
For years, I didn’t think God loved me – at least not as much as He loved everyone else. But today I know better; As my heavenly Father has done (and continues to do) for me, He will reveal His love for you … despite your imperfections and feelings of unworthiness.

I recall a few years ago while on a mission trip to Guatemala helping out at a phenomenal orphanage (Casa Angelina), God spoke to me saying, ‘Let Me love you like that orphans let Me love them.’

I can partially relate. I didn’t have an eating problem but more of an image problem. I felt inferior and would self harm myself. Only by finding out the root cause which stemmed from when I was very young, was I able to give my worries and concerns to the Lord. Through much prayer, He guided me and I had a great counselor and only then was I made whole.
The Lord healed me and I’ve since grown in my walk with Him. I still have scars from the abuse I suffered by they no longer consume me.
I’m free at last Through my fellowship with our Heavenly Father.

God loves you. Unreservedly.
God loves us sooo much! “This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. / And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? / As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” / No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. …” Romans 8:35-39. “As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Remain in My love. / If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. / I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. …” John 15:9:13. “And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. / In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him. / There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.” 1 John 4:16-19. “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form. / And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:9-10. “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.” Romans 5:5. There are way too many verses that show us God’s love for us to list them here! I’m so glad He loves us so much, to wait for me in my stubbornness through the years!
