We Can Trust God

Today Can Be Different Posted on September 10, 2022 by SherylSeptember 10, 2022

When our emotions and circumstances scream louder than our faith, when our fears become the ruling power in our trial and we’re at the end of our rope, we find ourselves praying a similar prayer: “Father, help my unbelief! Give me the faith to know that You are all You say You are, and that nothing is impossible for You. Help me to see You right here in my circumstance.”

Discovering what Christmas is all about

Today Can Be Different Posted on December 23, 2020 by SherylDecember 23, 2020

Rather than allowing our thoughts to be consumed with what we’ll be getting for Christmas, what if we took deliberate steps to get to know Jesus and the wonders of His person? Who He is. The way He thinks. His marvelous ways. What if we took the time (and made the effort) to truly discover what Christmas is all about?

God is bigger than your hurt, confusion and anger

Today Can Be Different Posted on September 22, 2020 by SherylSeptember 22, 2020

n the erratic times we live in, when emotions run rampant, do you ever wonder if you’re living with the right focus? I do. What does God require of us during these times?

When it seems the Enemy is gaining ground, what happens to our faith?

I used to picture God and the devil almost equal in size and power, though opposite in nature. I was so wrong.

Satan is not God’s counterpart.

In fact, Satan doesn’t compare to God in any area. Everything about God is huge. In comparison, anything regarding Satan is microscopic. How would it change our perspective if we kept our focus on this very point?

Think about it: God is huge and powerfully strong. The devil is tiny and pathetically weak. Compared to God, the devil is a mere flea.

God is so big and powerful that He created and governs heaven and earth.

Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. (Jeremiah 32:17 ESV).

We were created and are loved by a mighty, mighty God.

We can easily lose track of how big and powerful God is when we see the devil’s widespread devastation, including our own hurt, confusion and anger. But the devil is no match for God.

I won’t deny we live in scary times. And we’ll see more scary days. But I’m reassured to know that nothing can overwhelm our God.

When we put our trust in Christ, we have the strength to endure.

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency] (Philippians 4:13 AMPC).

Yes, Satan is real, but he is defeated. The destruction he causes is devastating, but God’s restorative power is far greater.

Don’t let the enemy and his destructive works become larger to you than God and His restorative power. Because … God is big.

He’s so much bigger than you can ever imagine. Even bigger than all your hurt, confusion and anger.

Practical Application:
In the world we live in, are you convinced God is bigger than the devil?
What about in your specific circumstances?
If you’re not sure, what changes do you have to make in your thinking – and in your prayer life?

When you’re losing steam

Today Can Be Different Posted on June 30, 2020 by SherylJune 30, 2020
steam

If you desire to grow sound roots that will produce a good outcome, dwell in (and rest on) God’s Word. His Holy Spirit will keep you strong and steadfast, even when you’re losing steam. As we yield ourselves to Him, our heavenly Father is able to prosper and mature our labor – including endeavors we’ve yet to experience – exactly on time, in its season.
