An Often Overlooked Consequence of Unforgiveness

Today Can Be Different Posted on June 24, 2023 by SherylJune 24, 2023

We glorify God when we allow His Spirit to help us walk obediently before Him. In contrast, the devil loves to hold our sins over us and celebrate our path to destruction. He tries to convince us that we can’t triumph over unforgiveness. But Satan is a liar. God’s power eclipses Satan’s.

Want to Know God Better?

Today Can Be Different Posted on October 1, 2022 by SherylOctober 1, 2022

Imagine the excitement of having a relationship with God that is so intimate that He reveals Himself in ways you never thought possible. Consider the freedom you’d feel as your relationship with Him becomes more important than your “right” to hate or hold a grudge. Think about the joy you’d experience as He empowered you to conquer that addiction to drugs, pornography or alcohol.

When your loved one is dealing with depression

Today Can Be Different Posted on May 15, 2021 by SherylMay 15, 2021
depression

God knows we’re not equipped to shoulder anxieties, worries and concerns – our own or anybody else’s. We can cast (or throw) whatever causes us distress onto His huge shoulders. Whenever we try to do anything (including helping someone in trouble) or bear anything (including depression) in our own strength, we become physically and emotionally drained. Then, rather than experiencing a breakthrough, we end up discouraged and worse off.

When we’ve been forgiven much

Today Can Be Different Posted on March 20, 2021 by SherylMarch 20, 2021

As we continue to prepare our hearts for Easter, would you consider joining me in meditating on (perhaps even memorizing) Deuteronomy 6:5? Let’s ask God to help us love Him with our whole being because of Who He is (Almighty God) – and because of all the times His love gives rise to mercy.

God is bigger than your hurt, confusion and anger

Today Can Be Different Posted on September 22, 2020 by SherylSeptember 22, 2020

n the erratic times we live in, when emotions run rampant, do you ever wonder if you’re living with the right focus? I do. What does God require of us during these times?

When it seems the Enemy is gaining ground, what happens to our faith?

I used to picture God and the devil almost equal in size and power, though opposite in nature. I was so wrong.

Satan is not God’s counterpart.

In fact, Satan doesn’t compare to God in any area. Everything about God is huge. In comparison, anything regarding Satan is microscopic. How would it change our perspective if we kept our focus on this very point?

Think about it: God is huge and powerfully strong. The devil is tiny and pathetically weak. Compared to God, the devil is a mere flea.

God is so big and powerful that He created and governs heaven and earth.

Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. (Jeremiah 32:17 ESV).

We were created and are loved by a mighty, mighty God.

We can easily lose track of how big and powerful God is when we see the devil’s widespread devastation, including our own hurt, confusion and anger. But the devil is no match for God.

I won’t deny we live in scary times. And we’ll see more scary days. But I’m reassured to know that nothing can overwhelm our God.

When we put our trust in Christ, we have the strength to endure.

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency] (Philippians 4:13 AMPC).

Yes, Satan is real, but he is defeated. The destruction he causes is devastating, but God’s restorative power is far greater.

Don’t let the enemy and his destructive works become larger to you than God and His restorative power. Because … God is big.

He’s so much bigger than you can ever imagine. Even bigger than all your hurt, confusion and anger.

Practical Application:
In the world we live in, are you convinced God is bigger than the devil?
What about in your specific circumstances?
If you’re not sure, what changes do you have to make in your thinking – and in your prayer life?
